The Two Minute Rule by Robert Crais Buy book: $7.19
Ask anyone on the wrong side of the law about the two-minute rule and they'll tell you that's as long as you can hope for at a robbery before the cops show up. Break the two-minute rule and it's a lifetime in jail. But not everyone plays by the rules. . .
Worth 2 minutes of my time only. We see and hear enough trash on the evening news ... why put myself out by reading such trashy language. I'll NOT be finishing this author's garbage.
The first two reads have really drawn me into the action.
I really wouldn't expect bank robbers, especially ones to shoot someone without thinking about it, to say please and thank you -- I think the language matches the circumstance and gives you insight into the type of people we are dealing with -- as we are still just in the prologue, I don't know if the "trashy" language will continue throughout the book.
The language fits the characters and the circumstances. Open yourself up to the reality of life. Not everyone is a saint; don't limit yourself because someone is different...explore it.
I can't wait to read tomorrow's installment. Will be going to my library's website today to reserve this book. Most of the time, it only takes one or two days to realize this is going to be a great one.
Anticipation is sweet..........
Sharon, hopefully this language will end and the real story of the book begin when Mac or Max enters the picture - not defending the language but this apparently is the nature of these two robbers - I just block out the language much as I do commercials on tv - of course if it continues throughout the book, that is another story -
Just read an excerpt from my library website and this got really good reviews and sounds to be a very good book -after getting past the robbery and language which we have read in first two reads - the author has written many mysteries and think this is his latest - and it is available so plan to check it out along with my growing list of other books -
I'm sure the book has a fast-paced, interesting story, but I have to agree with those who can't stomach the offensive, vulgar language. There are far too many talented authors writing fast-paced, interesting and exciting books without the use of obscenity. I'll stick with them.
I read this one and enjoyed it. This one is not with his usual characters of Elvis Cole and Joe Pike. I have read all of the Robert Crais' books. I recommend this one as well as his other books.
Am reading this one now and is turning into a good mystery with more fleshing out of characters - (is that the correct term?) - former female FBI agent enters the picture to help Max with his puzzling unanswered questions concerning the death of his son - am hoping for a "happy ending" -
