Thing I Overheard

May 27 2008, 5:52 AM

I always get Alan Alda and Alan Arkin mixed up so I was surprised to See Alan Alda's face on the book when I was expecting the other Alan and reading the excerpts in his voice! Whichever, I think I will track this one down and read the whole thing.

mixed up?

Alan Alda and Alan Arkin are two of my favorite actors so I would never confuse the two. I fell under Alda`s spell immediately upon seeing my first episode of Mash and never retreated!. I enjoyed `Never Stuff Your Dog` (or something like that) and so far am enjoying this one. I will read the rest of it asap.

Brilliant, yet Tender

I loved watching him on Mash, too,and I still do! I always thought he was brilliant in his role, but I never realized that this is how he really is. I'll probably buy his book...the excerpts leave me wanting more!

Alan Alda

I wish I had had his graduation address when my girls were graduating from college. I would have given each of them a copy of it. I had long ago learned that Mr Alda was "deep", and now it is time to find out just how "deep".

Touching thoughts are timeless

Some things are never too late or too often said,,, like Thanks, again, condolences in an ever-lasting time of grief, and sharing thoughts that (still) touch us... Perhaps your daughters will keep Alan's address for their kids/relatives etc. Don't let it pass again:))

I just finished reading this book, and I have to say it made me so sad!! Alan Alda is such a nice, caring, compasionate man. He searched so hard for the meaning of life and he didn't find it. All he came up with is the meaning of life is life. I will keep him in my prayers.
