Triumph: The Untold Story of Jesse Owens and Hitler's Olympics
by Jeremy Schaap
ISBN:  9780618688227

The story of Jesse Owens, the African-American son of sharecroppers who won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games held in Nazi Germany, is that of a high-profile athlete giving a performance that transcends sports. But it is also the intimate and complex tale of the courage of one remarkable man.

Edward R Murrow couldn't talk to anybody via satellite in 1955, they didn't exist yet. Heck, even the first Sputnik wasn't launched until 1957.

While it is intriguing to find fault with the writer at the outset, I do anticipate learning more about the life and times of this man, whose path was clearly not smoothed by color or family wealth. THANK YOU for this selection.

I'm hooked! I can't wait to finish this book. I thought it was so exciting to read about all that Jesse Owens accomplished!
