Sleeping with Ward Cleaver by Jenny Gardiner ISBN: 9780505527479
As a mother of five finds herself run down by life, love, and marriage, the reappearance of an old boyfriend and a dicey situation with her husband and her coworker force her to go on a quest to find out whats really important to her.
I'm not sure about the "light" part, since it sounds an awful lot like my house at dinnertime and the griping could get old pretty fast, but I'm interested enough to keep reading.
I read this book and absolutely loved it! I was so drawn into Claire's world, recognizing the dreary and chaotic parts of it as my own. I found her dreams becoming, and mirroring, my own. Her temptations, questions and goals really making her not only a neat character, but one that most of us women can relate to.
Not to spoil anything for anyone, but finish this one to the end...I was drying my eyes with a box of Kleenex.
hi! I am so glad you loved Sleeping with Ward Cleaver! I absolutely love hearing from readers who have been touched by the book and by Claire's journey! Thanks for spreading the word!

The first page of this book had me hooked. I guess I can empathize with Claire. When a book lets me laugh at not only the characters dialogue, but my own follies I have to see it through to the end. I’m just grateful I don’t have 5 children. LOL
I have had a busy week, so deleted this week (except Suzanne's section of course) but just happened to read the 5th installment of this book and now have to go find it. Based on the other comments, I am definitely intrigued. I love Jenny's writing style and pace, the sarcasm and wit. I can't wait to go to the bookstore tonight!
Linda--you crack me up! It really is SO universal--I have had a LOT of women asking me how I know exactly what is happening in their lives. I think it's so useful to know you're not in this all alone--it's HARD raising kids, it's HARD sustaining a marriage and keeping a relationship fresh, and who's got the time to do that when they've got little kids? I just figured I'd spent enough times in the company of my many friends, all of whom shared similar laments, and I am a natural born smart-aleck, so it came easy to me to write it this way--I really like to deal with hardship with humor, it softens the angst. But I also wanted to make points about relationships and marriage and such, I wanted to be honest about what a lot of people, men and women alike, think about marriage, parenthood, and their spouses.
I love this book and want to continue it after I read the clips from Suzanne's books club, but I have been to seven different stores and no one is carrying it. I have to try two more tomorrow, and the library. The books sounds fantastic!
