The third title in Lees Infernal series tells a story of gruesome murders that have occurred in a dilapidated priory--murders that are actually ritual sacrifices committed to open a gateway to hell.
I have been signed up for this book club (Horror) for several months. This is the first title in which I am truly disappointed.
First, it is the third part of a series. Who wants to start reading within a series??
Second, all the background with the condemned denizens of H ell is really turning me off. I guess if I were a true afficionnado of horror, I would be interested in learning Satanic rites, etc.
This story hasn't impressed me. It seems he is using gory descriptive words just to use them: almost to a ridiculous degree. I read this story aloud to my husband and he laughed! I don't think that he liked it either. After reading the second section i don't see much room for improvement so i think i will put this one away and try again next week!
I've not been very impressed with many of the selections from this book club either (horror). I thought it was maybe just me. I'm more of a Stephen King horror fan. I barely made it to today (Wednesday) with this book. I thought also, maybe I don't "get it" because this is not the first book in the series. All the hell descriptions and characters have been absolutely agonizing for me to get through. Hopefully the remainder of the week will be better since we are out of hell now.
