Welcome to the preview of my book, Crossed. I hope you enjoy reading it each day and look forward to any comments or questions you may have. -- Nicole Galland
You're off to an intriguing start that really pulled me in, generally reluctant reader of historical fiction that I am. But I see from your webpage that you're already an accomplished novelist, so this is no fluke. I'm looking forward to the next installment as well as to exploring your blog.
Your irreverent treatment of your Japan experiences reminds me of my novelist husband's summary of our withdrawal from China. (His name is Tom Bradley, but he's not the late mayor of LA nor the New Zealand kiddie author nor the baseball player.)
Your husband and I should compare notes; I'm always fascinated by the delicate balance of similarities and differences re: China and Japan.
Glad you are enjoying CROSSED. The other day I had the opportunity to talk to some folks about my misadventures while researching it, which I haven't done for awhile, and it made me nostalgic in a slightly pained way (as in, a piquant blend of "BOY I'm glad that's over!" and "Wow, that was pretty awesome!") I hope you enjoy checking out my. It was updated just a few days ago and should now include a link to a video I have on YouTube about the similarities between the Fourth Crusade and the situation in Iraq.
Thanks for writing and I hope you continue to enjoy the read...
Dear Author, i have just joined this book club and so am new to all this. To be honest it is not a book i would probably get out of the library but so far is readable. This is no reflection on you just not my taste.....so far.
Dear Martina-
I'm glad your finding CROSSED to be readable. It's certainly a big book, but most people find it pleasantly easy to read, with a lot more humor than they assume when they look at it, and hear what it's about. (My main characters are fictional but all of the events and all of the "power" characters are drawn straight from real history.)
I hope you continue to enjoy it; if you have any questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line to ask about them.
Cheers

Dear Ann-
I am so very sorry it took this long to get back to you; this has been a very crazy week. I'm glad you got so caught up in CROSSED, and I'm assuming by now (at least a week later) you've probably finished it.
If you want to learn a little more about "the Briton," you should read my debut novel, The Fool's Tale. See if Gwirion in that doesn't strike you a wee bit familiar...
best,
Nicole
