Hello - I am so pleased to come across this title. I wonder if you discuss any types of effective teaching methods or curricula in your book?
My son is 13 and struggles with dyslexia. I homeschooled him from age 8 until just this school year. He can read - just not happily. He says it takes so long.
I look forward to purchasing and reading your book! Great title - most BAMM emails I pass by. The title, however, piqued my curiosity.

The passage in today's excerpt asking the reader to read quickly and consider the meaning of the passage was a wonderful exercise for me, because it called to mind many of the enchanting books I read as a child that transported me to other worlds. There is so much truth to Emily Dickinson's poem, "There is no frigate like a book." I taught remedial and developmental reading in high school, and sadly, often had students who could not enjoy the reading material that I had found so engrossing at their age. Telling them to "try to have a dialogue with the author," and giving them the skills to do so, often (but not always) resulted in frustration for both of us. I can't imagine spending free time without a book.
