Sounds like a winner - enjoyed the first read - went to my library and found in the reviews that this is the fourth in this series with the sheriff - alas, this is the only book of the series available there - felt myself beside her and inside her head -

I can remember carrying my gr.dad his lunch out to the pasteur when I stayed with them for a time at a young age - also remember the salt licks and some cows along the way - tho' no apples or tastes of salt for me - and my feelings were certainly not the same - my walks carrying his lunch in the warmth of the sunshine was a pleasant experience for me - a happy childhood memory -
