Response to Re: UK Program

I actually worked on the dambuster programme, the second I have done so, and was very disappointed with the final result. Thankfully my name was not put in the credits!!

The original intention was to convert a US based but English owned AVRO Shackleton to carry a Dambuster mine and get the crew to actually fly and drop it. I was consulted as I have many original drawings of the modifications. The plan was dropped as the cost for making a couple of mines, mods, air tests etc was something like £500,000.

Saying that, the TV company had access to just about anything they wanted and were given carte blanche by the MOD, they considering it the 'official' anniversary programme. The end result was for me, too much recreation and not enough of the actual material.

Another I worked on, made by Windfall Films (shown on Channel 5 in the UK, originally as part of the 'Revealed' Season), was much better and went on to win an award.
