Response to WAAF cap badges

Curious if this info matches up with yours.

My understanding is that Canadian Women's Auxiliary Air Force was an Air Council term and not the name of an organization. My notes show reference to the above term in July 1941 followed by the formalized creation of the RCAF Women's Division (RCAF WD) the very next day. This would tend to make the two terms interchangable, with RCAF WD being the official organizational name.

Reading back through some of my books, it looks like the WD was somewhat hastily formed up as part of BCATP -- being driven chiefly by British plans to send RAF WAAF's over to Canada to help in the administrative role(s) of the training plan due to their being not RCAF component of similar structure (WAAF).
