Having done WW2 Army for some time now I am also adding WW2 RCAF into my grand scheme of things.
I have run into some problems.
From what I have seen so far the sizing on BD is very close for CDN army and original RAF BD. Sz22 army W 36-37 B 41-42 H 5'7-5'8. My original RAF BD is a Sz22 W 36 B 40-41 H 5'9-5'10.
Service dress is another story.
I rececently acquired a mint Sz8 RCAF SD and while it should fit me almost perfectly, it is more of a Sz4, and the mint trousers marked a Sz9 is more of a Sz4. I had tied on a Sz18 SD a while back and it was also way off in comparison to my army stuff. The Sz18 SD should have fit nicely.
I know the average male was smaller in the '40's but...
Does anyone out there have a correct RCAF/RAF sizing chart that they would be willing to share.
RCN sizes are even more bizarre, but I will leave that for later.
As I do WW2 history for school programs as wll as re-enact, I wanted to be able to vary my kit and do things other than army.
Can anyone help?
Is anyone out there willing to do some horse trading on the RCAF SD?
