There is a display at the RAF Museum of three or four airmen in a dinghy releasing a pigeon, and they have a tin in the boat with them. Its obvious that its made from some sort of tin, maybe biscuit, maybe fuel. I thought I had a photo of it but I cant find it, but I'll be there in a couple of weeks anyway so can take some more. But its open display, not behind glass, and clearly seen.
