You are right. It is terrible how communists repaid to the Czechoslovak pilots by all what they did for the Czechoslovakia during the WWII.
Unfortunately everything what is in the Dark Blue World is true. Maybe the reality has been even worse. Many of our pilots have been unreasonably imprisoned in uranic mines, some of them perished or have been killed there. For example Czechoslovak fighter pilot Josef Bryks who has been shot down in 1941 and captured by Germans. He has been famous escaper (he 3x escaped from german POW camps). After communists cope d'état in 1948 he has been sentenced to 10 years of hard labour. His only offence was the fact that during the WWII he fought on the West in RAF. In 1957 he died of very hard heart stroke in consequence of slave labor in communists prison.
Czech people are in giant debt to this brave men, but I am afraid that now is too late to acquit the debt. Unfortunately for young generation is WWII far-away like Boer War or WWI, especialy if more than 40 years all information about this part of our history has been concealed. Nevertheless our reenactment group is trying to do at least some small steps in this matter. We are in contact with veterans, commemorate their activity during the war in schools, air shows etc.
I apologize for such extensive commentary, but this theme is very important for me.
