Thanks for the info on the current 32 patt mae wests. I was not aware of the availability of the correct green rubberized cloth. That's interesting.
The repro I own I think is an early Sefton, made in the mid 80's. I'll contact Steve to find out. But I suppose it doesn't really matter anyway. The interior is black rubberisation.
As for the vest on Ebay, my previous comments stand regarding the eyelets and the leather tab. It is odd. But at the end of the day - as you say, if it is a fake, it's a jolly good one.
I am now going to try to post my photos to compare original and fake. If the photos come out too small again, I'll have to get some advice.
