| Well each has their own tastes. Obviously, if I had found a type 19 on a loom at a low price I would get it and sell the one I have now. But that was a steal really, coming to about £120.00 for the loom, mic, bell plug and correct early 'B Type' earphones. But getting what I did, the pleasure in seeing a 'restoration job' and the fun more than made up for no history (and lets face it, with something like that its unusual to know exactly who used it).
But for me its condition and price I go on, a name or history isnt as important to me. For example, if I found two pairs of wings, equally good condition, but one was £20 more with the history or the name, I'd go for the lower pair.
But your E Carbon is rare, even though its not pristine, its a lovely item to have. Remember we discussed before about you recovering it (or your Dad), which I advised against. I wouldnt think of doing that to mine, its just that my type 19 had the chamois already missing. I work now on getting an item (dependant on money etc) and upgrading later, which I have done many times on uniform and insignia. So you can have an example, and decide later if you find a better one to upgrade or to stick with something that might not be as good condition but has the history.
