I was just wondering whether anyone on the forum has ever played such combat flight simulators such as Battle of Britain 2 Wings of Victory; IL-2 Sturmovik 1946; or even the dated 'microsoft combat flight simulator'?
I find combat flight simulator's great, and it's the closest thing you'll get to the great air-battles of WW2 short of a time machine. Battle of Britain 2 Wings of Victory is the best one, being used by aviation historians because of the sheer accuracy of it as it's the only game that can pit hundred's of bombers and fighter's in the skies. It includes a 1:1 scale map of England and Western France, and mosels every road and railway etc of the time. You can even fly over stone-henge!
Storm of War BoB is still in development, and it is supposed to surpass BoB2 for the accuracy and attention to detail. SoW even promises to iclude the italian squadron's that fought which should be interesting.
Sorry if I'm going off topic, but was just curious whether you lot are also interested in the 'playing' of history short of reenacting; whilst also of collecting.
