If I had green on my scuba tanks Chris I'd be in trouble!!

Like most things Ben, items were made by civilian contractors, not the Air Ministry. There would be a specification for the tubing (as noted, for the masks it was Mark III tubing which was made to remain flexible at low temperatures) and as long as it followed that there would not be a problem. Unless a colour was specified I guess any could be used although manufacturers would probably only stick to one or two. Im not a chemist but in the case of synthetic rubber its possible certain chemicals might be used to produce the low temp rubber in question, whereas others (such as colour dyes) might not work.

Neil, I think the BoB Museum photo shows a salmon pink tube, not shown to its best in this light. You tube and the correct fleck pattern is sounding better and better!
