Eagle Squadron Badge

Can anyone tell me, how many former Eagle Squadron pilots transferred to other RAF Squadrons when the RAF Eagle Squadrons were turned over to the USAAF? The reason I ask is because I saw a photo the other day of a pilot in Malta wearing an ES patch on his BD shoulder, with shorts and flying kit. The Eagle Squadrons (Nos. 71, 121 and 133) never served in Malta themselves. Also, although the pilots were generally Americans (with the exceptions of the CO's and flight commanders) were any of the groundcrew, and if so, did they also wear the ES patch?
