Response to ATA & BOAC

Yes, I didn't think the ATA served overseas. The only picture I've seen of BOAC female personnel in uniform (excluding boat crew - alas, the other half believes the uniform to be "ugly", despite my attempts to convince her otherwise!) is from the BA museum website (must try and get to the museum itself one of these days!), identified as "Cabin Crew 1943-46", however the uncamouflage nature of the aircraft behind fairly conclusively points to immeadiate postwar period, as does the headgear being of a different type to those seen covering the above ladies heads:

(not sure how to make image links work)

Any info as to what the young ladies were doing, and where (Cairo?) The images I have seem to shew that most of the ground staff wore civvies.

That pic of the TC/FC ground crew is also interesting; the uniform, if not the insignia, looks identical to BOAC, which I feel is rather unsuprising. The rather perculiar nature of summer/tropical uniforms also seems to mirror BOAC practice of "making it up as they go along" (no two pictures shew an identical KD type uniform)
