| Page 92 of Warran Carroll's excellent book 'Eagles Recalled' shows a drawing of a RCAF Flight Sergeant with the fabric crown above the stripes.
On page 9 where he explains the difference between 'Kings' and 'Queens' Crown he also shows examples of the fabric type.
Also in Chris Ward's book 6 Group Bomber Command an Operational Record, there is a photograph on page 120 of F/S J H Taylor of 415 Squadron at debriefing and again the crown appears to be fabric.
