I know there have been previous discussions on the true color of WW II RCAF/RAF steel helmets. The consensus was that grey was the actual color, not RAF blue grey as often seen in the movies.
My question is were the RCAF/RAF helmets smooth or did they have a textured finish which was common on infantry helmets?
