......I've been collecting lithographs and prints of the RAF in WWII, specifically of "The Few", and have been fortunate enought to have a nice collection, with my favorite being one by Roy Nockolds of a Spitfire circling over a downed He-111 on a farm in Kent. Simple yet brilliant. This is from 1942 and signed in carbon by Mr. Nockolds.

Now, in all my years of collecting, I have yet to come across ONE that any painter or illustrator has done of Wing Commander Paddy Finucane. I have seen many of Johnnie Johnson, Tuck, Deere, Brothers, Doe, Lacey, Neil, Stephens, Malan, Bader, Nicholson, Holmes, McKnight etc and so-so on! All done by reputed artists as Robert Taylor, Wooton, Laurier, Turner, etc......Since Finucane ranked second in confirmed victories after Johnnie Johnson and directly in front of Stanford Tuck, I'm at a loss to explain why? As all know, Brendan Finucane was an Irishman in the RAF, it's youngest Wing Commander at age 21, and did carry a Shamrock on his mount (UD-W). Attaining as many victories as he did prior to his ditching in the Channel on 7-15-42,(some say 26, others confirm 32) Finucane was surely one that should be in, and deserves to be in, a highlighted work of at least one noted painter, but I have yet to find one!

Cut to chase, would love to hear if any members collect lithos as I do, some of your favorites, AND if anyone on the Forum can shed some light regarding Finucane, or can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Glenn
