Hi to everyone, new member to the forum. I have been collecting Commonwealth gear for about 5 years, it keeps me nice and broke. Just bought my second 'D' Mask, so you can guess what I mean by broke. Was wondering if anyone can give me some info about glider pilot helmet I have.
Has hard shell with lower leather insert, like lower half of flying helmet with gosport covers. Marked inside AM,
292/H/22 (Con 19E), CCL 1942. I have seen pictures of glider pilots in Hotspurs wearing same but no other general info. Any info would be appreciated, cheers

Jason

Hi Jason - sounds like you have a second pattern RAF lightweight crash helmet. They were originally intended for aircrew, but never went into general circulation. They ended up being used by glider pilots.
