On an old post, someone mentioned that WWII era pound notes were about 5"x8". If that is correct, did people fold them before tucking into a wallet? Or were the wallets that big? Any pics of a period wallet would be nice.
The white fiver was pretty rare in those days, being a weeks wages for some. I'd say a wallet about the same size as todays would be the norm. I've never come across anything larger and as mentioned, the large five pound note wasnt common.
