I have been trying to locate someone that is reproducing a 1932 vest. So far nobody has the material available to make them I.E. Pegasus. Is there anybody out there that currently has them for sale?

Light at the end of the tunnel?

I am working on creating the fabric. I have the correct cotton and am working on dying to the correct grey-green shade.
I don't know why the fabric is an issue for manufacturers of the repro 32 patt vests. It's easy to dye. It's just getting the shade right!
I have been planning on producing a 32 patt vest for a while. But like my other projects, progress is slow due to an expanding family!
Since I'm on the subject:
*The mae west bladder repro project is coming along. It all got delayed as I decided to modify the profile to the later 32 patt bladder. The later shape is easier to produce as it had parallel edges for the "lungs".
*I am also working on a Type 19 microphone repro. I am reverse engineering an original Type 18. I am modelling the mic on the computer. It's early days so I can't say when this will be available.
*I am doing kapok pillows for the 32 patt with real kapok too.
I'll let you know.
The light is at the end of the tunnel!
Cheers
Neil
Adam, your best bet may be in obtaining some cotton cailico and attempting to dye it yourself. If you achieve a good result with sufficient enough fabric, you may be able to approach one of the reproers to see whether they would turn it into a 32 pattern. I don't want to be rude and assume that they would be willing to accept the job, but you never know.
Steve Silburn makes the best 1932 pattern mae west's hands down. I have one by him, and it is incredibly hard to distinguish from an original (the only tell being the age and the style of serif he uses for his stamping). There was another chap who made them, I think called Paul French, but I'm not aware that he does this anymore. Some of his vests can be seen in Hawkinge BoB museum. They are also brilliant, but harder to obtain.
Unfortunately not Adam. As I said above, your best bet may be in asking the makers whether they're prepared to make one for you if you can source the material. You may end up with a cracking vest.

I had emailed Pegasus a few months ago and he didnt know if and when he would get the Fabric in. I wasnt inferring that he was not making them, just he hadn't the material or vests in stock. It's great to hear that I should be able to get one soon and Thanks for the Info!
