I found on IWM website unusual (for me) Eagle squadron patch. It is not usual eagle with ES letters, but just words Canada and U.S.A.
Could anybody give me more information about the patch? Why both Canada and U.S.A. and not U.S.A. only?

Thanks for any information.

Michal

RCAF patch

Michal,
The patch was worn by Americans serving in RCAF (who joined prior to Sept 2, 1939). If serving within the national boundaries of Canada, a title with only "USA" was worn. When serving outside of Canada, this combined "Canada/USA" title was worn. Reference: AFRO 632

Thank you Chris for the information. I thought it had something to do with RCAF.

Badges

Just as an additional point Michal, this type would have been worn by Officers. The title worn by 'other ranks' (Warrant Officer 2nd Class and below) would have been on dark blue or black, and would feature an eagle with the lettering 'USA' below and 'Canada' above, or a combination of badges to make the same (for example a seperate 'Canada title over an eagle/USA badge, or seperate Canada and USA titles).
