I think both have their benefits.
My mother is currently in the middle of a divorce after being with my step-father for 30 years. She's back in the dating game and meeting lots of new people.
Earlier this week she was on a lunch date and my sister, who thought it had ended, called her for an update. Here's how it went:
Sister: Hey ma. How was the date?
Mom: We're still on our date
Sister: oh okay. Well call me later. Oh, mom...mom...cough once if he's nice, cough twice if he's "eh".
Mom: Fiona, you're on speaker.
