Have you ever had a run in with a 'possum? They do that. Once I was walking a dog, and she suddenly stuck her head in a big patch of ivy and came out with a baby possum in her mouth. I got her to drop it and it just laid there, even though it didn't have any marks or look hurt at all. Walked away and 5 minutes later it was gone.
