I guess I look at polical office as rungs on a ladder and I see it as one structure. I can see the flaw in that thinking.
Before Bush, I never thought who held the office of president was all that important. I thought there was a limit to how much bad one person could do because of the checks and balances. Before Bush, I really thought the House and Senate would do the job of making sure the executive branch stayed within the law, at least. But I was younger then... |
