I was involved with a massive fraud investigation by the local PD, I had to deal with an irate idiot who blamed my employer for having his truck broken into (he was bad, his wife was worse), and someone very important to what I do showed up, clocked in and then dissapeared (as in left the premesis) until about 45 minutes before he was to clock out and go home.

I'm sorry that I can't be more specific, but with the nature of my job this as much as I can share.
My boss gave me a nice verbal pat on the back for my work today. It was probably the most interesting and rewarding day I have had so far since joining Safety and Security.

Marn your job sounds both cool and frustrating.

Glad you got the verbal pat... sometimes that makes the work worthwhile.

Marney you're the Burn Notice guy all of a sudden.  "I can't talk about what I did at work, baby."  Oooh, sexy!!  happy.gif  Seriously, glad you and me is back, and hoping some more oldies come back.

Ooh, I can share the interesting thing that happened at my job a few weeks ago.

I work in the ordering/invoice paying end of the library. We get all of the subscription renewals. And we subscribe to all sorts of fun things.

I opened a renewal a while ago and found this (not the greatest quality because I took it with my phone):

Highlight of my year.

Edited to take out work address. D'oh!

It sounds like we have the same job, Foxy. Technical services? I do a lot of ordering, renewals and also book processing, invoices, cataloging, user maintenance and that kind of thing. Just a Tech Services Specialist here, since I don't have a masters. I like it a lot better than reference. That end of the library really wore me down. Might be different if all the 'patrons' weren't attorneys working with crazy deadlines and complicated requests.

I did a reference practicum at a public library, and it drove me nuts. Yeah, yeah, customer sevice, but...customers are often idiots. I definitely like being in the back offices better!

We're a pretty big system, so we separate the workflow a lot--I do very little cataloging, and I rarely see a real book or magazine; it's pretty much all ordering (what I'm told to order), renewals, and invoices. We call it the "Information Processing Unit"--how's that for vague?
