I walked 16 miles today. AND it was miserably hot. And a few big hills, one of which was extremely huge ... and we did twice. We started at 5:30 (a few minutes after because one of the girls was late) and we finished at about 11:45. I came home and took a cold shower, and I don't think I have ever voluntarily done that in my life. Tomorrow is 8 miles (which is easy now), next weekend is 18 miles.
And I am pretty much useless the rest of the day. I tried to take a nap but it was just too hot.
How was your Saturday? Is it just here that is obscenely sweltering?
It was pretty muggy around noon here today but I was out on the boat so, it wasn't too bad.
The wetland I walk past on the way to work is drying out and it stinks like a dead body. Wonderful.
I didn't walk 16 miles but I did lube my butt crack just for funsies.
I think if I lubed my ass crack, I would be terrified of sitting on a public toilet seat.
Which, by the way, I drank like a gallon (literally ... I drank 3 liters on the walk, plus a 32 oz gatorade, plus about a liter before I started walking) and didn't pee until like one pm. If you want an idea of the amount of sweat involved. Thank god for moisture wicking.
I went to the Surrey Fusion Festival, which is a festival which tries to celebrate all the different cultures around here. I had a vegetable patty from Jamacia, some pumpkin, corn mush from Kenya, and some fried bread stuff from Afghanistan. Plus I got my henna done in India.
Here I am showcasing my henna while drinking a fruit smoothie from Jamacia.
Also.. it's been crazy hot here the last couple of days, today probably maxed out at 25 degrees which was a lovely change.
The festival ended tonight with a concert by Joel Plaskett (canadian dude from Halifax) I like his music, but he actually puts on a REALLY good show. So personable with the crowd. And before that I rocked out to some Bhangra music. All in all, great day.
Um, henna, it's a plant that they use an extract from in south asian countries (eg. India) that they use to draw on skin, primarily for special occasions such as weddings and what not. It lasts about 4 weeks I believe.
I imagine it probably will last about 4 weeks or so, but it's actually not as dark as in the picture. That was right after it was done. After it dried I got to pick off the paint stuff, and it's just a browny colour that is left underneath.
Henna and hair dye? I know some people use henna to make their hair more red... would it interact that way? Or are you talking just getting henna on your body can interact with hair dye?
My hair isn't dyed, but I've been thinking about it.
Aurora, if I had your hair color I would totally try out the Lush hennas. I am seriously thinking about trying it in the fall, anyway. I'm a little scared because my hair is chemically treated already but I have done strand tests and they came out amazing.
I spent Saturday in a small town west of the Cascade range in southern Washington. Small, as in there was a herd of elk grazing in the middle of it. It was so hot that I was shamelessly drinking boxed blush wine with ice cubes and lemon slices and wearing a flopping sun hat purchased at the local grocery store. Hot enough to go into a swimming pool with a mosh pit of small children in it. Had a blast, actually.
I'd say that fries with gravy in Canada are "Canadian Gravy Fries".
But I get your point. I was not aware that Canadians liked their fries with gravy alone. I thought a Mountie would ride up and throw cheese curds on your plate if you tried to eat fries and gravy alone.
I did... it's been on for 2.5 hours so far. It is messy and smelly and since I have hardly any experience dying my hair I don't think I did a good job doing my roots, but we'll see.
Would you mind posting the link to your donation page again. I just got paid for doing some work, and would like to make a donation.
If you think you donated but haven't would you mind checking? I think there are some people who think they did but didn't and I'm still 500 bucks short.
I don't mind the smell, smells like green tea, but others hated it. Told me they couldn't be around me.
It acts exactly as mud would act if you left it to dry in your hair (it flakes everywhere and makes a huge mess) - this problem probably wouldn't be so bad if you are doing one where you wrap your head in cling wrap.
I rinsed out the stuff after just over 6 hours. I didn't shampoo, and right now my hair is really greasy from the product. However, my hair IS darker. I don't think it's black black, but it is a few shades darker than my normal colour.
After I get up tomorrow I'll shampoo and dry and take a look at it in the light. I'll decide then whether I want to mix up the second half of the stuff and try to get a darker look.
What they say about the shine and that if feels more silky and healthy totally true. The best part is probably that my hair feels thicker now. You'll love it even though it is a pain in the ass.
Great color. I have to start doing my own hair cuz I'm gonna be a poor, unemployed grey-haired lady pretty soon but I don't want my hair any thicker so no Lush for moi.
