Vanity Fair edits Palin's speech

This is pretty funny. They sent her resignation speeck through their fact checking and copy editing departments as though it were an article they planned to publish. See the annotated version below.

The one thing I'm surprised they didn't note was that her quote "To quote General McCarthur, we're not retreating, we're advancing in another direction." was actually made by another American General - Oliver Prince Smith. They chose to just fix it as "Often attributed to..." McCarthur - which is fair, but still wrong.

It's a clever bit though, if you like such things.

Thanks for that, it made me laugh. I loved the green fact checking corrections. And the fact that whoever wrote the speech put applause at the end.

The speech would have been a lot shorter, which, IMO, is a huge improvement.

I want that job. Much more interesting than the copy I am currently editing.
