I realized last night that I live 10 minutes from the beach and hadn't been yet this summer. Since I'm having surgery tomorrow & I might not be all that mobile for a couple of weeks (and by then it will be about time for me to go back to school) I was like "Pack up the dogs, Husband we are going". I'm glad we went yesterday because it's raining and cold today. It was 29C yesterday! Although we went at 6 pm so it was less blindingly hot. Anyway here are some photos (I will spare you any of me in my swimsuit).
Here are cliffs. I was all "OMG I'm going to fall off!" even though I was probably 10 feet back from the edge.
Here's, um, a dead log.
Sprocket was all "Hey! A new place! I like new places!"
This was right before Doozer tried to jump off the picnic table then changed his mind halfway through and was left hanging off by his back legs.
We finally took them down the steps to the actual beach. "We like eating grass at home! Let's try eating this stuff!" (PS they did not like it)
Hermit crab, crabbin':
The water was really warm:
So I went swimming. And the dogs tried to follow me in, but they hated it. I had to get out of the water and take them back to the beach. They hated that, too, because now they were wet and the sand was sticking to them.
So then we took them off the sand and brought them back up to the grassy part, which they liked. And I took more pictures of stuff.
Not sure what this was down on the rocks. Salt residue? Bird crap? Creme De La Mer?
They look like they're thinking lofty thoughts but really they're probably thinking about the dead bird they found in the backyard this morning and licked it and I had to pick it up and take it from them I don't know if I'll ever recover (have I mentioned I hate birds?)
On the way home we stopped at the dairy bar and got a small sundae to share. If this is their small...
Then when we got home we betrayed the dogs and gave them a bath.
SADDEST FACE!
ETA Here's the rest of the set, if you want to look at it:

It's the Atlantic ocean. I live in the land of Anne of Green Gables. (actually it's the Gulf of Saint Lawrence but that's splitting hairs)
The red stuff? That's the sand. They sell little bottles of it in gift shops here because people are like "OMG RED SAND!" $4 for a tablespoon of sand. I think I'm in the wrong profession.

You're right Squid, I guess it depends on your definition of "warm". It was in the 20Cs (~70F?) when we went yesterday.
Here are a bunch of guys talking about why the water here is generally warmer than you'd expect:
