The annual Perseid meteor shower is expected to put on a good show this week for those willing to get up in the wee hours of the morning and wait patiently for the shooting stars.
In North America, the best time to watch will be between midnight to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, but late Tuesday night and also Wednesday night could prove fruitful, weather permitting.
This would be a good night for you camera buffs to prove yourselves again.
I really want to try to get in on some sky watching but I don't think I'll make it past 7:00 tonight (only 3 hours of sleep in the last 2 days. My butt is chapped its dragging so bad.)
Well, on that note, when I got home today, the manor was sooooo stuffy and hot that after I did some laundry, investigated why my dryer is knocking, fed the dogs, watered the cats, I was sweating like an eskimo in Vancouver.
This is the second thread title that has let me down tonight.
I assume the midnight to 5 is eastern times.. which means I can start watching at 9? Of course it's still daylight here at 9, and normally I go to bed at 10 now...
Maybe I'll sit on the deck with some homebrew and try to stay awake.
Why dont you leave your aperature open for a couple of hours on the tripod. That would make for a nice pic and then you wouldnt have to sit out there all night.
I went outside last night and sat on the deck to watch. I came back in 10 minutes later with 4 mosquito bites and a crick in my neck. Didnt see anything. I live too close to the city.
