I just stumbled onto one of these stores today. I didn't even realize there was one in my area. They've got some really good looking things in that place. Anyone got any recommendations for things I should try, in the beef/chicken/fish area?
Oh and this place I found also has an Omaha Steaks store right next to it. This shopping center could be very dangerous for me, especially on weekends when I often skip breakfast and lunch and then go shopping. I didn't go crazy overboard today (although I was thinking about it). Picked up beef burritos, taquitos beef grandes, and chicken tikka masala from TJ's, and a box of stuffed sole fillets with scallops & crabmeat from Omaha on sale for $20. Yum.
The Chicken Tiki Masala is fantastic. I've had that a bunch.
Their Chicken Egg rolls are a personal favorite of mine. I have those for dinner at least once a week. Their "sort of" boxed dinners are generally really good too. The Pad Thai - which just comes with egg noodles and tamarind sauce - is awesome. You don't have to spend hours cooking delicious sauce, yet you still get to feel like a grown up and cook for yourself because you have to prepare all of the other ingredients (which... really is just chicken, egg, and peanuts.)
Their soup bowls also kick a lot of ass. It's kind of like Ramen noodles - except made with real ingredients an no MSG (I have a horrific allergy to MSG - and Trader Joes is an MSG free zone.)
Their Cheese Crunchies (organic cheetos) are both delicious and bad for you but in a healthy way.
Their sandwich meat is also good. It's a bit on the expensive side, but it usually is only a buck more per pound for better quality meat.
If you like easy dinners - try everything they have. You will very seldom find something that actually sucks.
I dunno much about the meat part, but I can say that their pizza fixings are the best! They have premade raw dough that rises up really well (and holds its own in the freezer), the pizza sauce is tasty, and you can't beat TJs for cheese. Speaking of which, they have a cheese with caramelized onions that just melts in your mouth.
Their Chicken Drummetts are very good too, either in the microwave or oven.
Buffalo Burgers are quite satisfying. Just don't over cook them.
And thats not to mention all their tasty cookies and candies (when you're looking in the freezer section, look at the upper shelves), cookie dough (one of the best to eat raw), and chocolate covered frozen bananas.
Mini Chicken Tacos
English Toffee
peppermint jo-jo's (christmastime)
frozen tempura
cherry clafoutis (freezer section)
apricot tea bread
multigrain low fat bread (it's slightly sweet, like squaw bread. Love)
flatbread (and hummus. they have the best hummus... and tzatziki sauce)
potstickers
frozen pad thai
I don't buy them because I will eat all 4 in the box, but their vanilla cupcakes are sofa king good
wasabi cashews
they have awesome vanilla and spices for cheap
guacamole kit!
salsa kit, too!
cat treats
I also get vitamins there (and melatonin)
and wine and beer
pirate booty!
cheese!!
specifically meat:
carnitas
marinated tri-tip
chicken breakfast sausage (I love this a lot)
I had to google that.
I'm not sure my TJ's would have that. I think there's still a law in my area that prevents wine from being sold anywhere but in liquor stores.
The Turkey Jerky and Buffalo Jerky
Chicken DimSum Dumplings or something. Way good.
Peanuts.
Toilet paper.
Spaghetti.
Pre-sliced apples.
Not the frozen but the refrigerated dinners (Chicken parm and stuff)
Thanks guys. I'm still updating my list.
Adds: Turkey jerky, buffalo jerky, refrigerated chicken parm and stuff, but no toilet paper (toilet paper???) and no boxed soup.
LOL Lisa at that video. That was great.
I loved this guy...
and this guy...
and really really loved her (but for different reasons)...
When I went there last weekend one of the workers totally cracked me up. He was this big ol bad-ass lookin dude who walked up to a spot near me holding a big huge armful of stuff he was going to restock on the shelf I was looking at. I looked up at him and he goes, "Oh, sorry sir" and takes a couple of steps back and stands there waiting there holding his 200 pounds of stuff. I wanted to say to him "What did you just say? Sorry, and Sir??? What the hell is wrong with you? You're supposed to say Get out of my way I got work to do here."
I didn't say that. I didn't say anything.
I just kinda walked away scratching my head at all the weird politeness.
