Well, the house is empty. I cried. I cried first when I dropped Carson and Lauren off. They don't know who they have as teachers yet, so they gather in the parking lot under signs that say "2nd Grade", "3rd Grade", etc. Lauren looked so nervous and so little. So I cried then.

Dan took Megan to her first day of Kindergarten and they hadn't left yet when I got back. So Megan stood at the back door with her backpack on for twenty minutes until it was time to go. And then I cried again.

Did Daddy take Nutmeg to her first day of Kindergarten in the corvette? DID HE? Cuz that would be sweet

No, Dan took her in the truck. Technically, she's not supposed to ride in the Corvette since it doesn't have a back seat. But she has. Like around the block.

I just got back from picking the older two up. They love their teachers. Off to fill out ninety pages of paperwork!

I know it's probably too late, but here's a tip for next year.

Fill out all the information that is the same on one form (address, emergency contacts, etc, then copy it 2 more times and then you just have to fill in each kids name and birthdate.

it took me until the boys were in 5th grade before I figured that out, but it makes all the paperwork a lot less tiresome.

And I DID do the fill-out-one-form-and-copy thing. I even managed to do double-sided copies right side up! The only one I filled out separately was the one for the nurse, since it was on blue paper that almost felt like cardboard.

Megan only went in Wednesday with Dan for two hours. She doesn't go back until Monday, so she's been home with me. I will miss her. I mean, I miss all of them, but I'm used to having an errand-running buddy.

I should have replied to this sooner - those kids are lovely!
