I didn't find the video even remotely convincing. I'm more and more convinced that our current (flawed) system is better than anything the government throws out there. Additionally, when he says "it won't be subsidized by the government" he's talking out his ass. Because we all KNOW it will.
I'm asking this seriously rather than as a way to pick a fight - do you just feel that way about the public option, or any of the health care reform that's being talked about? I'm curious to know what anyone on the right (or, anyone not on the left) thought about tonight's health care speech.

Even though David expressly said he's not interested in my opinion, I'll give it anyway.
I do not think the current system is better than anything they're offering. The current system leaves too many people unprotected, and allows insurance companies to kick people off their rolls for preexisting conditions. If we accomplish nothing else but that, we've done something.
As for the speech - I found it very sentimental in places. I even turned to the Mermaid at one point and laughed, "Help ME, help YOU!!" to which she replied, "SHOW ME THE MONEY!!" Heh.
But I will say this - taking the text at face value, and watching the scene, I don't know how you couldn't conclude that one group of people is trying to fix something and open to any solution, and another is trying to block change at all costs. That to me, is unAmurican.
I was also surprised that tort reform is now on the table. Sorry trial lawyers! That's a huge Dem concession.
I think private insurance needs some competition also. Right now I'd like to kick an insurance company in it's nuts. If the very experienced surgeon insists a patient needs a piece of equipment for a certain period of time then that patient should not have to fight with their insurance company for it while trying to heal. Feh! Sorry, had to rant about it a bit.
