This is a waiver only league. That's different (for me). You guys aware of the following:
Lineup deadline is 5 minutes before gametime for each player.
Owners may set lineups.
Transactions will lock five minutes before the first game on Sunday. Players whose teams play before Sunday will be locked for the remainder of the scoring period.
Add/drops are handled by a waivers process.
The waivers process runs on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The waiver order resets after each weeks' games.
Dropped players remain on waivers for at least 1 day(s).
Trades are subject to a 1-day voting period, where at most 3 objections are allowed. Trades receiving more than 3 objections are sent to the commissioner for approval.
Stay on your toes! Going to take a little planning week to week...
So I couldn't pick up a free agent on Saturday and then set my lineup for the following week? I have to wait until Tuesday to see if I got the free agent I wanted?
The way I understand it Ryan, you would be correct.
ETA: Basically? The way I see it? There will be a lot more thieving from waiver status. The people who pay attention will benefit. This will inhibit trading.

Yeah, but in fantasy basebally, the minute I do add/drop, the transaction takes place. There's no waiting period to pick up a free agent off the wire. The only waiting is if I want to pick up a player that's recently dropped from another team.
yeah, Ryan. The instant gratification thing was the way it was when I played this league year before last. So, I was surprised about the waiver only deal.
I loved waiting until like 10 mins before game time and making add/drop so whoever I was playing couldn't try to match up my talent.
I actually think this waiver system gives more of a benefit to people NOT paying attention. If you see a guy have a great game, you can't just go add him. Instead - you put in a request and hope nobody else finds out he had a good game in the following three days.
He hasn't been trained. I'm trying shame instead of treats. - Lizzlee
uhmmm Davey? How exactly does that benefit the people not paying attention? It benefits the person asking for the waiver.
ETA: I kinda get what you meant, like those on top of it can't switch out willy nilly. so yeah. But, swooping in a snatching waiver bids will become like the somalia pirate mode on the open sea.
Is it WAYYYYY too obvious that I am so PSYCHED that football season is here? Today is my SO-BOO's bday. He is sooooo patient

Owners may set lineups and change players' positions from a list of their eligible positions.
Add/drops are handled by a waivers process.
Trades are subject to a 1-day voting period, where at most 3 objections are allowed. Trades receiving more than 3 objections are sent to the commissioner for approval.
No trades can be made after the trade deadline of 11:59 pm et 8/20/09.

Same thing.
Only dropped players from another fantasy team will have to clear waivers. You'll still have a large pool of free agents to pick from who are free and clear of waivers.
I think you're over estimating the impact of the waiver process on your ability to add/drop.
"I loved waiting until like 10 mins before game time and making add/drop so whoever I was playing couldn't try to match up my talent."
That makes absolutely no sense from a fantasy sports standpoint. It's not like your playing an actual game where you have player mathups. You put your best statistical team forward every week no matter what.
That's the statement the really threw me for a loop, Anny.
But yeah, you kicked my ass. I was as interested in fantasy football as you are in baseball.
Football is about the draft. It's much harder to gain ground after a weak draft or an injury because of the nature of the game and the shorter season.
I disagree with your premise, Caps. Yes, you do put up the best team for yourself... players vs. the teams they are playing. But you should (or rather I do) consider the match ups and bye weeks and injuries and so much more. If I am on the fence, I will definitely look at the position players I am up against and how I think they will fair. Match to Match.
I hold semi stock in what the experts say. So... for example... if my opponent is playing a defense that is highly rated but I think they will suck against the team O'the Week... I might flip in a WR to suck up points. But football is my religion.
See what I mean?
And.. I should apologize .. no. I do Apologize for my horrible lack of attention to the Fantasy baseball league. Sorry about that. honest. I really thought I would have time to learn it and participate. The summer was much more chaotic than I ever could have imagined. And wow. Baseball is way harder than football. WAY HARDER!
Maybe because I am not a fan? But more likely because there are so many more games and nuances than I could even figure out. Sorry if I disappointed. My first initiative was to make sure you guys could play, and I had meant to participate. Sorry it didn't work out that way.
Sadly, I'm not actually the commish. You don't get commissioner powers unless you pay money. I'm just the fool who set up the league - I don't get to play God.
I think you're confused about player match-ups, Anny. You don't select your players based on how they match-up against your fantasy opponent - you select your players based on how they match-up against their real-life opponents. Some guys play better against some teams. Your fantasy opponents generally have no impact on how your guys play.
This is also a little weird. I checked the live scoring last night and the guy I was playing against (Apocalypse) was beating me by like 22 points. He had the Titans DST and I guess they were doing good.
I checked back in this morning and his team was disqualified for the week because of an illegal lineup (too many reserves). How could he be active last night and disqualified tonight?
ETA: Nevermind - I think I figured it out. He had a 2-for-1 trade pending and I guess it cleared, making him take on an extra player. That sucks!

This is why I don't do fantasy football/baseball/etc.
Too many fucking rules and every league has their own rules.
I'd get DQ'd on some technicality for sure.
Plus, I'm too lazy to take the time to do all the research on the players.
I just want to take 2 minutes to pick the winners for the week, put in a MNF score, and then enjoy the games. I don't care which players do well or crappy that week, I just care who wins or covers.
"Your fantasy opponents generally have no impact on how your guys play."
Hush Ryan! The mere activity of me placing them in my line up changes how they will play for the day. It is also true that when Peyton is about to pass the ball if I tap 4 times really quick on my ankle it will be a completion.
I am really surprised you don't know these things!
