I got back yesterday afternoon from a weekend camping trip to Pasadena, Maryland, with Carson and her Girl Scout troop. She bridged up to Juniors last year, so now her and Lauren are in different troops.
The place we stayed is actually the first place I ever camped at with scouts....it's a big lodge with an industrial kitchen, livingroom, fireplace, indoor plumbing. Very nice. Better than the yurts.
This troop is very very different than the Brownie troop Lauren is still in. The Brownie leader, as opposed to Carson's leader, has the girls' day mapped out down to the fifteen minute mark and keeps to that schedule very strictly. This weekend, the girls had a lot of free time and we had a great time!
Here's Carson lighting her first fire ever. And, in fact, it's the first time she's ever lit a match!
And here's Carson helping pull down a dead tree for firewood:
And here she is waiting for the campfire stuff to start....in front of the fireplace since it started raining Saturday afternoon and didn't stop until we left.
In less than two weeks, I'm camping again with Lauren at Jellystone Campground in Pennsylvania. In a cabin. I hesitate to even call it camping.
