So Ginny and I cruised over to Disneyland Thursday night to see their Halloween Decor including the Halloween versions of Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and fireworks. Here's our alibis some pictures:

Pumpkin versions of the characters are above the entry gates

On every light pole of Main Street USA

Centerpiece of Town Square

There were carved pumpkins in all the windows and balconies

This is the first year that Space Mountain got a makeover for Halloween

I do believe that this is the 9th year of Haunted Mansion Holiday (where they decorate it like The Nightmare Before Christmas)

(somehow, the carnivorous wreaths are cute to me...)

We're gonna go back some time soon to get pictures of "Candy Corn Acres" over at California Adventure.

Ok, bye.

Oh man, that Space Mountain ride looks like so much fun!
Awesome pics, Ruby and Ginny. happy.gif

Can you believe that I've never been to any Disney place, except for the store?
At this point in my life, I probably never will.

Oh, sweet Lisa, it makes me sad when you say things like that. If you get yourself to San Diego I'll take you to Disneyland!

Next time you're in the area Lisa, just email me. I hardly use my pass these days.

Like I said, soon California Adventure pictures, then in Nov some time will be Christmas time there. I do miss Christmas on Main Street...

thosed carved pumpkin faces are great.

Just curious Ruby and Ginny, do you see a marked drop in tourists going through the gates due to the recession and general cash-strapped-ness going on?

It was really crowded, for an off season Thursday.  In fact, the park was supposed to close at 8 and they stayed open an extra hour due to the crowds.

I think their happy birthday campaign they are running is brilliant.  I heard/saw tons of people with birthday stickers.  Of course they all have 5 people with them, and they all had to pay to get in the park.  Brilliant.

Found out you can use the birthday ticket credit towards an annual pass, FYI!

Yep.

And you can still pay annual passes on installment, so basically you can get an annual pass for zero down and 6 bucks a month. Which might be why it was so crowded on a Thursday...

Precisely. Our hotels occupancy is down, but our Annual Pass sales are up. Besides the Birthday promotion, we've had more special events than I remember from the post 9-11 years, and every time they do something new somewhere (Halloween Decor, Christmas Decor, re-opening of Small World, etc...) we have a huge influx of locals and pass holders.

I do know that as a division Walt Disney Parks and Resorts (Anaheim, Florida, Paris, Hong Kong) have lost revenue, and that The Walt Disney Company has taken a hit mostly from the media divisions, but we here in Cali are holding our own, and I don't anticipate any more job losses from our site.
