Dan decided to rip out the floor, the wall tiles, the sink, and the cabinet. I took Lauren camping this weekend, but Friday night before I left, he removed some of the wall tile to discover behind it....nothing.
So that there wouldn't be an obvious bump between the new drywall and the old plaster, he gutted it. I came home this morning to find this.
Lovely. I do like the old original tile under our other tile, so we're going to clean it up and keep it.
Thank the good Lord above we have another working bathroom.

But to see a firefly means it reminds me something I lost in the past time or imagine some hope in the future,so shimmery bug light is adequate for me.

We've got walls, paint, tile, and a light fixture. And that's about it. The new sink and medicine cabinet are in our bedroom and the toilet's still in the hall. But we're getting there.....
Still need to grout, trim the window and door, install and paint the baseboards, fill in the missing floor tiles, refinish the floor, find a mirror and a shower curtain...maybe that's it. But that's a lot.
We've already tried out one shower curtain and rejected it as "too busy". These are contenders:
Yay for almost done bathroom? I always dislike that middle of a project where you don't quite feel done enough to let out the proud and accomplished and you can still see so much to go.
This is a picture from Tagret and it's listed under the green ones. Dan found it (or one that is very very very similar) at Home Goods for $14.99 but was gray. The dots were different shades of gray, white, and black. We held it up and it was too much pattern so close to the floor.
I thought finding a black framed mirror would be easy, too, but it's not. I liked these as an alternative, but Dan thinks they'd be pretty hard to use while shaving.
ETA we'd like to keep the bathroom as black and white as possible to match the tiles, wall, sink, etc. but are thinking of a little color on the walls (art) and maybe with towels. The shower curtain could be a color or gray or black and white. And I already got a "no" for the bloody handprint one.

Ah.....as you know I can REALLY relate currently to this process.
Yours is looking good, Kathleen.
As far as the shower curtain goes, I would go with a cotton, white one, one that is soft, yet washable.
That's what I bought, on a 25% off coupon thing at World Market. It was like $15, but feels and looks nice.
You definitely don't want to compete with that floor, which is gorgeous! (I'm jealous!) So I'd go one solid color for the curtain, and accents, etc.
Finally decided on a shower curtain. We've got to put the toilet back and finish the baseboards, then paint those and the trim and all the boo-boos and then I think we'll be really really close to done.
