Your short drought is over, and your team had an amazing season. A-Rod also shut up the playoff non-performance naysaysers for all time. I was obviously casually rooting for Philly, but there's no question in my mind that the better team won. After a really shaky start this year, they recovered beautifully and became a fearsome steamroller on an inexorable path to the championship and the trophy.
The best thing in my mind is that the only Yankee I really like at all, Matsui, is the MVP. He's a class act who doesn't and has never had they stereotypical Yankee attitude that I was born to loathe. I assume they'll re-sign him now?
Pedro was a class act last night I thought. He's putting it together without speed still, but he just didn't have a pitch that could fool Matsui this series.
For some reason, managers can't seem to see what everyone else in the world sees when Pedro out of gas. They'd say he earned another batter by fanning A-Rod - but he actually hadn't by the camera, so I agree they should have pulled them.
You've got your own "Why, Grady Why!?!?" moment now.
The difference this year was chemistry. Proof that you can't buy a championship. If you could, they would win every year.
On Matsui - seems like it will come down to him or Damon getting resigned and as surprising as this sounds, Damon is more valuable to them. Matsui cannot play in OF anymore, and they want to free up the DH spot for other players to rest them.
There were so many bad games at the beginning of the season I didn't think they were going to make it this far but they DID and they WON! Go Yankeeeeessss!!!
