My mother thinks that Rob and I are Photo Experts just because I am sort of good at taking pictures (read: have a fancy camera) and Rob was able to photoshop my niece in one of our Christmas photos so that she actually had her eyes open (my niece is horrible in pictures - her eyes will be open in maybe one out of every fifteen snaps, and inevitably that will be the one where 3/4 of the other people in the picture are spazzing or looking the wrong way or in this case, one nephew was picking his nose and the other was covering his face with a stuffed alligator).
Anyway, so today Mom sends us a scan of my father's great-grandparents on their wedding day. And asks if we can fix it. Neither of us is any good at that kind of thing, and there are no photo restoration whatevery places 'round these parts.
Does anyone here who actually IS knowledgeable about these things
a) want to take a shot at fixing it up (I'd email you the pic) or
2) know of any online places that would be able to fix a photo that's about 80 years old and looks like a horse stepped on it?
PS- seriously my great-great-grandparents had some BIG HAIR. And some other random lady in the picture with them. Which leads to many suppositions.
All of the above, I think. First off, it's a scan of a photo that one of Dad's cousins sent, so she doesn't have the original photo and the resolution on the scan is something like 600x400. Secondly, it has black splotches on it. I don't know if they're water splotches, mould, or what, but they're pretty much everywhere. Finally, there's a big crease (luckily not hitting anyone in the face). So yeah, not premium.
