Speaking of De Niro

I got the chance to see Being Flynn about a month before it came out. (I've got a friend with movie connections. It's great!)

Anyway, the movie is really good. Maybe one of De Niro's best, at least in the last 10 years or so. But it's pretty gritty and not at all like it's being sold; as some kind of feel-good story about a guy making peace with his estranged father. I mean, it IS about a guy TRYING to make peace with his estranged father. But it's more like real life where the peace part never really happens and instead we're presented with an in-your-face character flick about a guy who's dad is the biggest, unapologetic narcissist on the planet. And the son is just trying to survive the experience.

I give it 4 cookies.
