Oy, apparently Pop Chips and Ashton Kutcher messed up and tried to be funny by painting Ashton Brown and having him pretend to be "Raj."

[I tried to post a picture - but N54 is too painfully slow to do so right now.]

Morons.

The ad and an article here:

He looks more Italian than Indian.

I'm ready for Ashton to go away. Have been for a while.

I'm so glad you said that about the slowness. ARGH.

I saw this and thought - ah, pretty and dumb. Just the way I like 'em.

Would the negative reaction had been different if Kutcher/the ad had actually been funny? I vote yes.

Probably. And now I've heard of pop chips. So there's that.

Well if you read the link I posted, an Indian guy pretty much says just that Anny. That aside from painting his face - which is probably never a good idea - that there was no other humor to it other than making fun of the 'funny accent' and 'funny clothes.'

They reference how the Jewish Hank Azaria has been successfully been poking fun at Indians for three decades as Apu and doing it perfectly and inoffensively.

So, the moral of the story is: if Ashton were Jewish, it would be okay.

I think the moral of the story is... if Ashton could take his shtick out of his 20s (Punk'd, That 70s Show) and become a funny in his 30s, he might salvage his career.

Cute doesn't last forever.

He looks like a pasty white guy compared to that tanning mother.
