Goober was his cousin.

Wait, Gomer was Goober's cousin in real life, or on the show?

My first thought when I saw this story was "Wow he was still alive?"
Then when I read what Andy Griffith had to say about him my next thought was, "Wow, Andy Griffith is still alive?"

Not a fan of the Pyles. Or Andy Griffith. Though I did like Don Knotts.

Were you a fan of the apple dumpling gang? I remember seeing that as a kid and loving it.

I HATED The Apple Dumpling Gang. Once a year in Catholic school they would show a movie to all the students in the cafeteria and it was always the Apple Dumpling Gang. One year they switched it up to Freaky Friday but the next, right back to The Apple Dumpling Gang.
I sneer at the title every time I see it.

Never heard of it. But it sounds exclusionist.

I have been to Gomer Pyle's former home. Brothers that I went to High School with married sisters whose parents own the place. It's in Big Sky country with you, Bider. In Whitefish.

Youre sisters who married brothers and you know other sisters who married brothers?

Not any more so than anywhere else, I wouldn't think.

The other sisters I mentioned didn't grow up in Nebraska though. They grew up with Cali. So those brothers and sisters didn't meet until way way way later. And not in Nebraska either.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I challenge you to Google that last line written by Rainy in quotes and come up with more than one hit.

If you leave out the "He rocks" part you can actually get three hits.
If you substitute "grape" for "Pyle" you get like 12,000 hits and I don't even know what that is. Goober Grape?
It apparently even has its own Facebook page.

Maybe if Rainy had used the past tense... "he ... rocked".
