Why do people hate him so much? Does he have an attitude or something? I don't know a lot about him myself except that he's been doing well and everyone hates him.

I bare-handed a foul ball he hit during spring training 2011. You could see the stitching mark on my hand clear as day.

I think people don't like him because he used to look like a clown with all that eye black. Just my opinion.

I just found an article from last June about him...

--------------
Bryce Harper is going to get himself hurt
Check out the home run that Nats prospect Bryce Harper hit last night. Specifically, check out the way he stopped to admire it and the kiss he blew to the pitcher when he crossed home plate:
Yes, hes young. But theres no excuse for that kind of thing. Even someone who cares as little about the unwritten rules as I do has to appreciate that Harper is being disrespectful here. That pitcher is trying to do his job. He didnt get $16 million to tide him over as he tries to get through the minors like Harper is.

Maybe he gets away with that kind of thing in A-ball. But if he doesnt learn a bit of humility at some point on his journey to greatness, hes going to get his ribs broken.

So, yeah, looks like he probably does have a little too much cockiness in him for a rookie.

Maybe you meant this in your post, Appy, but Cole Hamels admits it was intentional:

"I was trying to hit him," Hamels said. "I mean, I'm not going to deny it. It's something that I grew up watching. I'm just trying to continue old baseball, because I think some people get away from it. I remember when I was a rookie, the strike zone was really, really small and you didn't say anything because that's the way baseball is. But I think unfortunately sometimes the league is protecting certain players and making it not as that kind of old school, prestigious way of baseball."

And based on that... I love Bryce's eff the unwritten rules attitude.

He's less douchey so far than I thought he would be. I like that Hamels hit him. That's old school. I like that he stole home too. It was good baseball all the way around.

That pitch had to hurt like hell, tho.
