I am excited. We are going out for Thai food for lunch, which I love. Then I am leaving early to meet with Iggy's teachers and counselor, because he was diagnosed with Dyslexia this week. Then it's Time Trials for swim team. Tomorrow is gymnastics and a funeral. Sunday I am taking Iggy to see the Avengers, and I can't wait to see it again. I want to hear all the lines I missed the first time because I was laughing so much.
Looking forward to a great weekend, with a little up, and a little down. Happy to be alive.
Addy's day care is a co-op so we have to participate in stuff. I say have to because I hate forced community. The Mermaid calls me a crank.
Anyway, she has to do some set tonight up for a fundraiser event tomorrow at a local winery. Yes, Mass and wine - I'm sure it'll be amazing.
I have 5 yards of mulch arriving in the morning, and I have to get all of the old fence I tore out to build the new one to the dump. I need to finish opening the pool.
At 1:00 I've got a memorial service to go to for a co-workers husband who tragically died of ALS. Then briefly to a friend's graduation party from Law school if there's time before heading to be the work crew for the fundraiser thing for Addy's school.
Sunday a tree guy is coming over to take out one tree and clean up several others. Spread mulch. Plant stuff. Swim?
Tonight- boxing and hopefully catching up on my Draw Something games. Maybe I'll hit up a few at lunch today. I'll definitely draw for Arwen because she keeps nudging me I'll try and take care of you too "Shinadee". Heh.
Tomorrow- making 100 mini fruit pizzas for a picnic. Attend picnic.
Leave picnic. Attend boxing match.
Sunday- seperating a ton of flowers to give to my friend. Hang out with said friend. Maybe have a beer and work on her tiki bar.
All I have to do this weekend is marking and working on my garden. As in: my garden is not yet tilled. My BFF decided to start a vegetable garden this year (she's never had one) and I have been helping her out with a bunch of stuff preparing for it (which tools to buy and which are a rip-off, planning where to plant what, what shouldn't be next to each other, which of our garden centres suck and which don't). We were planning on going halvsies on renting a tiller this weekend , until she found out yesterday that her father-in-law has one and he's willing to bring it over to her place. She lives five houses down from me, but her FIL is not willing to till anyone's garden but hers - hey that sounds dirty - so I will be using the Garden Weasel or whatever. TOTALLY NOT BITTER.
(in case anyone's wondering, I'm not renting a tiller on my own because I don't want to pay $100+ for what would amount to 10 minutes' work - my garden is 5' by 10'. Last year my parents and sister and I went in on one together but this year my mom just wants to do container gardening and my sister isn't doing any).
So yeah. Gardening, marking, going over to my folks' on Sunday for supper. It's supposed to be beautiful and sunny all weekend so maybe on Monday we will take the dogs to the beach.
I've been putting off mowing the lawn, but it can't wait another week, so that's my plan. I'm also kinda upset with my weedeater situation. I just bought it last year and have already been through a set of fuel lines and three fuel primer bulbs. I think the ethanol-blended gasoline is eating through them and I can't find freaking craftsman blended fuel-compatible parts. I'm about ready to throw the weedeater in the trash, but I haven't done my research to find an adequate replacement. I'll probably replace the freaking fuel line one more time then junk the POS next time it fails. No, I'm not upset that craftsman didn't plan for the Mandatory Federal Ethanol Fuel Standards. How could a US company possibly be expected to make their equipment compatible with Federal Regulations?
I need to cut the lawn... again. But the real fun will begin tonight when my sister rolls in from Oregon with one of my nieces and niece's friend in tow. They both turned 19 earlier this year, which is legal drinking age here, so I'm gonna go start them on a life of alcoholism.
Sunday will be the picnic to celebrate my brother's elopement.
Capri-length jeans, blue top, hand-knit lace wrap in variegated blue silk and kid mohair. It snags on anything with zippers, buttons or velcro so I only get to wear it for the few weeks a year that a light jacket would otherwise be appropriate.
I had six yards of river rock delivered last weekend and have been using it for paths between the raised garden beds and in the rose beds. The long strip between the sidewalk and street still needs to be nuked and refurbished, but I'm going to take a break this weekend and hang out with friends.
Holy smokes, people! Knock it off! Weekends are for being lazy. You guys are too productive.
As every weekend, I will cook. This weekend has chicken enchiladas for one night and oven fried chicken with creamy rosemary potatoes (and corn on the cob) for the other on the menu.
Bobby is working the Drew Brees Celebrity Golf Tournament so we have free tickets for either Saturday or Sunday (maybe both, didn't ask). The weather will be meh - on the coolish side (mid 60s), but it is at La Costa Resort & Spa - I haven't been. I love wandering around on golf courses during tournaments. The celeb factor adds the extra fun!
I lost 3 pounds this week (not on purpose - happy surprise) so I think I will go with it and do some bike riding Saturday and Sunday. It is swimsuit season after all.
ETA: I was just looking at the tee times on that link. Bobby had to be at the course at 7AM and it looks like Jack Wagner is that first group to tee off! Bobby might have that foursome. I used to have such a crush on Jack.
