Well I've finally finished setting up for the Sangria party. Todd's backyard looks fabulous! Here is the layout:
You walk into the backyard and there is a huge natural looking swimming pool built to look like a pond in the woods with a grotto and running falls at one end. The pool is clean and glittering, and on the opposite end from the grotto there are floats in it and diving boards and a slide!
The tables on the side will soon be groaning with food. There are several punch bowls ready for the Sangria and lots of plastic goblets because of the pool - we don't want any smashed glass. There are wicker padded couches and tables all around the pool and a balcony from the house overlooking.
A huge tv screen hangs from the underside of the balcony which will display the olympic coverage all through the party. Up on the balcony there is a dance floor with tables overlooking the pool. Over the dance floor hangs a disco ball. On the side of the dance floor is a gorgeous retro jukebox loaded with every tune imaginable. You just have to drop a quarter in and pick your tune. No worries, there is a bowl of quarters sitting beside the jukebox. There are trees all around the pool which are strung with white lights so that as the sun goes down the place will be lit up with the "stars". More white lights glitter on the balcony . On the spacious lawn beyond the trees is a bouncy house, lawn games, hammocks, and lots of pup tents for when you get tuckered and want to lie down. Inside each pup tent is an air mattress and comfy bedding. After all, this party is going to last until Sunday morning.
If I forgot to mention anything about the layout feel free to remind people. I've got to leave now to get dressed. I'm sure Todd and his lady will be here exactly at six EST to greet the guests, who should start arriving around then.
Bear in mind that this is a virtual party, and therefore, no matter how hot and sticky it is, or cloudy, or rainy in the real world, it is gorgeous, perfect weather at the party. Have fun, and remember, no sex, no drugs and no loud noise.
Lizzlee sneaks over, away from the MIL and kids, saying that you need my help with something on your computer. I pound a couple of cups of Sangria and squeal greetings at y'all. I'm a hugger. Before heading out, I go to the juke box and put on "We Didn't Start the Fire." Ten times.
I'll be back as soon as I can fake another excuse.
Wha....(I stagger out of the pup tent, being careful not to wake Ginny, re-tying the sash of my beach coverup)...the sound of that insidious song is pounding in my brain. I've been hearing it for over half an hour!
"Smirk! Stay away from the jukebox! I'm going to kill you!" I head towards the stairs intending to climb to the balcony, when my legs tangle with something cold, wet and still on the ground. I find myself plunging forward head first into the pool....!!!
I saw him dancin there by The record machiiiine! I knew he musta been about sev-unteen! The beat was goin strong, playin my favorite sooooooong! and I could tell it wouldn't be long til he was with me.. Yeah me... And I could tell it wouldn't be long till he was with me.. Singin I love rOck n roll! So put another dime in the jukebox baby...

OH MY GOD. My hair is ruined. How long have I been floating in this grotto? Whoah! Finally they are playing something good. I slowly walk to the slow end of the pool, singing softly at first, then with other voices joining me I sing a little louder....
Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide No escape from reality Open your eyes Look up to the skies and see I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy Because I'm easy come, easy go A little high, little low Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me....TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Man the fruit in that sangria is repeating on me. The stars are spinning....I just had to wade in and haul Aurora down to the shallow end of the pool. I wedged her into a duckie float so she should be okay til morning.
That cold wet thing I tripped over earlier is still by the pool. Too tired to check it out.
Who the fuck is singing?
