Too early for a HALLOWEEN Thread?

August 7 2012 at 7:12 PM
Ginny  (no login)

I need a costume for Disneyland fuckery. I am considering Hello Kitty. Find or make a headband with ears and a red bow, and white makeup, and that's about it. Thoughts? Have you thought about your costume yet?

There's no way I'm tottering around Disneyland in the zombie stompers.

Look at my new running shoes though, I might wear these.

Yeah but we are going to the Halloween party the first week of October... so I need to order stuff in the next month to make sure I have everything.  Otherwise I will end up scrambling at the last minute and it never comes together right.

Well, I probably would scare the kids there.  I'd say I'd wear it at home but Guitar Boy doesn't care about lingerie at ALL.  I feel like a total idiot for wasting my money every time I buy it.

I do like the makeup though. And the headband except the bow goes over the LEFT ear.  And should be red.

Here's the rules, BTW. Because I know someone is going to say "Don't end up like the crying tinkerbell chick!"

All event attendees including adults may dress in their favorite Halloween costume and must follow these and other guidelines:
Costumes should be child-friendly and may not be obstructive, offensive or violent.
Guests may wear masks. However, masks must not obstruct vision and eyes must be visible at all times.
Guests who dress like Disney Characters may not pose for pictures or sign autographs for other Guests.
Costumes should not drag on the ground.
Costumes should not contain sharp objects, pointed objects or materials that may accidentally strike another Guest.
Costumes should not contain any weapons which resemble or could easily be mistaken for an actual weapon.
Guests of all ages may only wear costumes to the Disneyland Resort Halloween event to which they have valid tickets.

Guests who do not adhere to these guidelines may be refused entry into the event unless his or her costume can be modified to meet the above standards.

I'm obsessing over this!
I want to be an Aperture Test Subject (from Portal):
[linked image] [linked image]

I don't want to be HER, but another of the test subjects. I can get both the tank top and the orange jumpsuit fairly inexpensively. The difficulty lies in the foot wear. The first pic is out of the question, but I cant quite figure out how to safely do the boots in the second pic. I have some ideas but haven't a clue how to execute them. And this totally gives me an excuse to buy this as a prop of sorts:

Honey Boo Boo will be stripping in no time.

They've made a whole show around this. So, we've got Hillbilly Handfishin', Duck Shit, Look at These Toothless Rednecks, and Honey Boo Boo. I think they should be put onto a rocket with all of the Real Housewives, the Kardashians, Joan and especially Melissa Rivers, Sharon Osbourne, the cast of Love and Hip Hop and all of its subsidiaries, Rachael Ray, and people that text and drive, and shot into the sun.

It's too early for Halloween. I'm getting old fast enough without rushing it.

Way to early for Halloween. Anyone who is even thinking of Halloween obviously doesn't have to think of the weather that comes with it! Not ready to give up summer yet!

Love portal, love that idea... This was a triumph, I'm making a note here, huge succes.

Is toddlers and tiaras abusive? I've seen it a couple of times and turned it off because it made me cringe. I happened to see the honey boo boo episode, and that mother is frightening.

You should go as a Rule 63 Darkwing Duck.

And before someone asks, Rule 63 is basically a gender reversal of an existing character.

For those that ARE into the Halloween ideas, what do you think of these as a base for the footwear?

I'm thinking a few bands of black elastic and something resembling the spring attached to the back. That way they look sorta like the ones above, but not quite. Like an earlier prototype or something?

I thought it was kind of an obscure costume, Ruby. I've never played Portal. But, man, you really pulled it off. The boots came out perfect.

My mom was real good with homemade costumes when I was a kid. It takes real imagination and ingenuity to envision a costume based on a fictional character and pull it together with everyday materials.

Bravo!

Thanks Caps. I had fun watching people that would get it smile as I walked past. Fav moment: Just after taking the boot picture, a Snow White leaned across the line for Space Mountain and whispered "The cake is a lie". I responded with "the candy is a lie" and we both laughed as the rest of her princess party looked at us like we were nuts.

When we were in line for Haunted Mansion, we were talking with this girl that was about 10 years old who said she was going to be "Lady of the Lake". I just hung my mouth open with all the possibilities, and then realized that she was probably the 20 year younger equivalent of me.

I am usually too enraptured in my mechanics of the game to listen to what GLaDOS is carrying on about but I heard some good things so I youtubed it. Hilarious!

Awesome costume Ruby!! I salute you!
